What is the Database and what is the actual need of Database?

Database is logical collection of data. Data retrieval and saving is easy.  Database can have more than one schema. And each schema can have more than one table. Tables contain more than one columns and rows to store data. Database follows relational database approach to store data in a relation and keep tables in normalized state.
