For a single periodic task, is there any benefit to use ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor over just creating a single thread and starting it?

In my point of view, periodic task for a single thread does not need ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor, We can acjeive it simply by  Timer and TimerTask
